VEGETABLES
Continue to sow lettuce and mesculin mix (several types of lettuce, endive, rocket, corn salad and chicory).
You can still sow some peas, though you may want a early dwarf variety if you have a short growing season.
If you have planted sweet corn, they may need support from the wind as they get taller, so you can add some bamboo stakes.
Gather herbs now to dry for winter, do so before they flower. Tie their stems together and hang them upside down in paper bags to dry.
FRUIT
Keep tomatoes staked and the laterals pinched out.
Strawberries will be at their peak fruiting, so keep them well watered and keep the fruit off the ground with mulch and avoid them getting wet.
Currants need nets put over them now to protect the fruit from the birds.
