I come from a long long line of DIY and make it yourself-ers. My Grandma was a dressmaker, cook and baker-extraordinaire, my great Grandfather was a tailor, my Granddad was a builder, gardener and creative make-something-amazing-out-of-junk guy. My own Mother and Father have taught me so much about the realities of living on a block of land.

I have used all this wonderful heritage as a foundation, and I have been able to continue to advance, experiment and learn new things. Sometimes I do take for granted all the knowledge that I already have, I forget that not everyone was blessed with the skills that I have been handed down.
I grew up picking raspberries and helping Grandma make fresh jam. I have spent hours upon hours gardening and building with my Mother. My Dad showed me how to butcher animals and taught me about building with whatever you had lying around.
I forget that not everyone knows how to grow food, cook a successful cake, or use a sowing machine. Animal husbandry and the realities of living with livestock can be a steep learning curve to those that didn’t grow up with it.
I am so thankful for the heritage that I have, and it has allowed me to share these things with you via my website.
